Pets other than Fish
Certain CNU Campus Housing should be designated for pets other than fish. These can be entire residence halls, certain floors, or only East Campus/Landing. There should be a size limit on animal, restrictions on types of animals (no exotic animals not considered domestic), and a limit on number of animals per room.
Studies continue to show that close contact with animals can help people deal with many issues including depression, anxiety, stress, high blood pressure, and more. Being able to combat these issues would only help students' performance in class.
CNU's housing states that "Pets are not permitted in CNU…

Lower the cost to replace a lost ID
Right now if you misplace your ID or it get's lost you have no choice but to pay $25. This price is unnecessary and unsafe. The average parking violation costs a student less than if their ID falls out of their pocket. As the pieces of plastic that the IDs are made from cost the university less than $5 each it seems unethical to charge more than $5 to get a card replaced.

Upperclassmen Housing 12 month contracts
I really wish I wasn't forced into getting a 12 month contract for next year because the 10 month contract buildings ran out. I'm sorry but I can't afford this and it's specially pointless if you're graduating in may but aren't considered a senior for housing. And if they are going to force students to live on campus 3 of the 4 years, they should make it somewhat cheaper or at least around the same price as apartments like port. Not $200 more per month.

Laundry prices should be lowered from $1.50 to
Laundry prices in the main resident dorms (York East and West, Warwick, James River, Potomac North and South, and Santoro) should be lowered from their original prices to $0.50. Laundry shouldn't cost us another arm and a leg. Our tuition, fees, housing, and meals plan already do that. It's a reasonable price and the school will still get there money.

The Sweet Tooth
Wouldn't it be fantastic to come back to your dorm and have something to munch on? Or maybe your watching a movie and you and your friends having a serious sweet tooth. JMU and other universities have it and we should too. You can order Cookies and Milk and have it delivered to your dorm from 9pm to 4am. Let's try to get as many votes to bring this here!

Can we have a designated smoking area please?
I love our campus and its so beautiful, but its kinda gets ruined when I walk outside and am hit in the face by a gigantic cloud of cigarette smoke OR when I'm in my room with the window open and people are just outside the building smoking and it all comes inside. I don't care whether or not people smoke, but it would be nice if there were specific areas for the smokers that nonsmokers/people with sensitive asthma could avoid and keep the smoke from going all over campus.

Stop giving PLP students extra privileges.
I think we should stop allowing PLP students to have so many extra privileges. They pay less, because they take most of the scholarshps, while they have priority everything. They have taken multiple classes and better housing from me. Simply taking a few extra classes does not entitle you to be treated better than us. Also, many PLP kids I have talked to say that the Leadership minor is a joke.

I think CNU needs more parking spaces.
I've had to park at Harris teeter or Panera so many times after work because of lack of parking, and lack of convenient parking. I'm not saying I'm too lazy to walk from the far Warwick lot to JR, I'm just saying I think its unfair that people who live in Warwick have 2 huge lots right next to them, and JR has one tiny one.

Clock in the Library
I have discussed this idea with a few students and although some may think that it is only cosmetic, we think that a clock addition to center of the library right as you enter is needed. While I am sure there are some logistics problems that may arise, I know that clocks were not originally included in the classrooms until the professors asked for them, so we feel that it may be necessary for the students to make this request.

RA's Should get to pick the meal plan they get.
Not many people eat every meal in the dining halls. And its not fair that RA's have to have the 19 meal plan with no dining dollars. All of the 10, 14, and 19 meal plans cost the same so why do RA's have to have the 19?

Let our IDs work for every dorm and push back sign in time
We are all students at CNU, so why not let our IDs work to get into every dorm on main campus? I visit other dorms frequently and it's extremely frustrating to have to wait for someone who lives in that dorm to use their card to open the door. Also, I don't think CNU students should have to get "signed in" to a dorm at all, but I'd compromise with just pushing back the sign in time two hours.

allow alcohol on east campus!
the majority on people on East campus are over 21. If CNU is going to force us to live on campus all 4 years they shouldn't be so strick with their rules. East campus should have different, age appropriate rules.

Longer Library Hours
The Trible Library should be open longer, maybe even around the clock. I know we have our 24-hour room, but it's crowded and loud. For many people with loud suitemates/residence halls, it's the only place to go to concentrate, and for chronic procrastinators like me, stepping into the library flips on the "STUDY" switch in my head. It'd be great if Einstein's was open longer, too, for caffeine and sugar runs during study sessions. This is a college; studying and learning is the main focus of colleges; how are we supposed to do that if the library closes at 5…

Stop requiring commuter students to be signed in all hours of the day.
I'm a commuter student and I very often work with or visit students who live in the dorms. I understand having to be signed in after 8pm but I should not have to be signed in if students living in other dorms do not.
20 votesJoseph,
Thank you for voicing your opinion. I’m happy to inform you that this project is underway. We have talked to Julie Kittelson, the Director of Residence Life and Dean Hughes in regards to this issue and they fully support this idea! Right now we are trying to figure out logistic aspects but we will try our best to get this issue solved!
Sincerely,
Eric Seo -

Pave the Path from the DSU to McMurran
When I lived in Potomac South, I used this makeshift path everyday. I've seen students, bikes, even golf carts use this path. It's fine when it's dry, but when it rains, it becomes a pond. It's only getting worse with time. People are eroding the edges, making it wider and deeper.
Could this officially become a brick path? Just trying to save a few pairs of shoes. Thank you for your hard work!

CNU Should offer storage facilities for commuters during the day (like the lockers in the gym)
I spoke to Dean Hughes about this. Just seeing if others agree.

I believe CNU should have our GPAs set at 2 significant figures instead of how it is now, 3 significant figures.
If someone has a 2.45 GPA, it will count as a 2.4 GPA, not 3.5. Many jobs on campus require that you have at least a 2.5 GPA to stay working there. This is unfair. If someone has a GPA of 1.94, this is under that GPA requirement and so this student will be on academic probation. If we had the 3 significant figures system, this student would instead have a 2.0, just barely reaching the good standing GPA. This would help a lot with everyone on campus in mind!

Open Up Commons/Crows Nest 10 PM - 1 AM on the weekends
I think the idea of having a late night dining option for students on campus would be a great way to make use of our Crow's Nest or new addition to Commons. Students could gain access and purchase food using Dining Dollars/Captains Cash or possibly 1/2 meal swipe or something. Food Options could include nachos, mozzarella sticks, hot dogs, quesadillias, etc. This would provide more avaliability for on campus jobs as well provide an alternative option for students to hang out in on the weekends. With the food bar in the Crows Nest especially I feel this would be an…
